DM Ranch

DM Ranch View

The DM Ranch was established in 1880 and continues to support a cattle and hay operation along the South Platte River.  In addition to preserving its agricultural values, the ranch now protects 13 historic buildings, three miles of trout stream, a rare plant community, and abundant wildlife.  The stream supports a large population of wild brown trout, migratory waterfowl and many species of nesting birds.  Overnight guests have use of the entire (650-acre) property for private fly-fishing, horseback riding, hunting (in season), wildlife viewing, and nature walks.

The fully restored guest cabin has a large sleeping loft with king bed, two twin beds, and plush linens. The living room has a wood burning stove and massive sofa that comfortably sleeps two adults. The kitchen, dining and living areas are well appointed with new appliances, furniture, and utensils.  A large outdoor deck has been designed for family barbecues, small group gatherings, and star gazing.  It's not uncommon to see and hear elk from the cabin deck.

The DM Ranch is located in the secluded South Fork Valley, 16 miles from Fairplay on US Highway 285.  Rates start at $199 per night with a two-night minimum stay. Lodging does not include services such as daily housekeeping, meal preparation, horse rentals, or guides.  Visit: http://www.vrbo.com/321739 for more information.
